Classic Cobbler

Family-owned Bronzeville bakery known for Southern fruit cobblers, pies, and puddings with a flaky, buttery crust. Classic Cobbler is a family-owned bakery specializing in homemade fruit cobblers and pies made with quality ingredients and no preservatives. Recipes began in the South and moved to the Midwest through generations. Owner Bran’Arla Johnson founded the business with her mother and brother around 2010; after a Chicago Heights storefront and a period of online ordering, the family opened the Bronzeville shop at 3453 S. Prairie Ave. in fall 2024. Signature offerings include peach cobbler (and other fruit cobblers), pecan pie, lemon crème pie, and banana pudding. Whole pies and cobblers can be ordered online or by phone for pickup (site: ~24-hour turnaround). The shop has been a Taste of Chicago and Hyde Park Jazz Fest vendor and was named a Chicago Bears Small Business All-Pros winner (2024–25).
