B'Gabs Comfort Cafe is a Hyde Park neighborhood café at 1450 E 57th St. Owner Gabrielle Darvassy’s business began in 2011 at the Experimental Station (6100 S Blackstone Ave) with raw vegan fare and holistic goods; after moving to 57th Street and adding a stove, the kitchen shifted into cooked vegan comfort food. The shop closed from late 2022 and reopened in fall 2024 with a mostly plant-based menu that now also includes eggs, dairy cheese, bacon, and turkey sausage so more diners can share the table. The stated mission is fresh, made-in-house food with little processing, local/organic/non-GMO sourcing where possible, kept affordable—in a low-pressure space that feels like a living room, not a stiff restaurant.
